When purpose, friendship, and good governance build a better food system
The story of NUU Alimentos is, in many ways, also a story of shared purpose. NUU was founded in Minas Gerais by my best friend and now Do Good Law Board Member, Rafaela Gontijo, a woman with an extraordinary commitment to transforming the food system through sustainability, community, and culture. From the beginning, we both believed deeply in doing work that matters and leaving a positive mark on the world — and that belief shaped NUU into what it is today.
Rafaela built NUU with a simple but powerful idea: Brazilian food can nourish both people and the planet. What started as a dream to bring clean, high-quality pão de queijo to the world has grown into the first carbon-neutral cheese bread, produced using regenerative agriculture, solar energy, composting, and zero-waste principles. Her team works hand in hand with rural farmers, protecting local traditions while building a more equitable supply chain.
Governance aligned with B Corp standards
Socially responsible entrepreneurship
Zero-waste production model
Strengthened legal foundations for future growth
A foundation built to last
As NUU expanded, the need for strong governance became essential. When Rafaela asked for support, I was honored to help strengthen the legal foundations that would allow the company to grow without compromising its mission. Through Do Good Law, I guided NUU in updating its LLC governing documents to align with B Corp standards, ensuring accountability, mission protection, and long-term alignment between business decisions and environmental responsibility.
A food company that is ethical and profitable
Like in international adoption, this work taught me that meaningful change happens over time, through persistence and values-driven leadership. NUU is proving that food companies can be profitable, ethical, and regenerative — all at once. And supporting Rafaela on this journey has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my legal career.
Today, NUU stands as a model for what socially responsible entrepreneurship can look like: rooted in community, committed to the planet, and built on governance structures designed to last.
My work with Nuu reinforced a belief that has guided my entire career: meaningful change happens when legal structure and social purpose move together. - Camilla Gomes
The bridge to Do Good Law
Supporting Nuu through its governance redesign and B Corp–aligned restructuring showed, once again, how law can be a catalyst for integrity, sustainability, and long-term impact. It is the same conviction that shaped Do Good Law — a practice built to help mission-driven organizations translate their values into strong, ethical legal frameworks.
Whether in global development, adoption, or sustainable food systems, my goal remains consistent: to stand beside organizations that are working to make the world better, and to give them the legal foundation to do it well, bravely, and responsibly.
